5.31.2010

The next day, I woke up, got in the car, went to Wal-Mart to get some kind of bed topper for my bed. It was like sleeping on a cinder block! Luckily, the things I bought made a world of difference. I also had to invest in curtains because when the sunrise light cuts through the blinds, it cut through enough to wake me up. After I unpacked a little more and tried to get my room to be more comfortable, it was yet again… back into the car.
This time I was headed to Lincoln. I drove past the Nebraska Cornhusker Memorial Stadium, which is really big and nice.
I asked Garmin to find a decent Italian place, and it eventually led me to Lazlo’s, a chic microbrewery inside a restaurant. But before lunch, a neat little shop was found around the corner with all kinds of Nebraska cornhusker souvenirs and shirts inside. Thinking it would be sacrilege to purchase an actual Lincoln Cornhuskers t-shirt, I settled for a sweatshirt and shirt with “Nebraska” simply written across the front. No confusion, no betrayal to my alma mater. Then it was off to the grill for lunch.
At Lazlo’s, I ordered my first filet mignon, well done, with honey baked beans on the side. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!

I headed back to Beatrice and met up with the roomies. They were sitting outside setting up a tomato plant that Allison had bought from Wal-Mart. We talked and stuff, and then they took a blanket out to the front of the house and read for a while. I grabbed my camera and took some pictures around the house, but the light wasn’t right for a lot of them.
After some time passed, we packed up our stuff and headed to Arby’s for some much needed free internet. We hung out for about an hour, and I bought some delicious freshly-baked cookies. I tried to set up my blog, but it just was not working. We then raced back to try and catch the sun setting behind the Monument, but Chelsi had to catch her favorite show on one of our five channels called “Big Bang Theory”. We all hung out in the living room and I typed while they watched tv. For dinner we decided on leftovers, and tomorrow night someone (or all of us) will cook.
I start training with Allison bright and early at 8 am tomorrow at the education center. I’m excited!

Highlight of the day: since Allison is a working on the "web ranger" project here at Homestead, she has free internet on her computer. Although we don't have to pay $50 each for internet for 3 months, we all have to find a way to share one computer with internet. At least we don't have to pay for it!
