Long time no blog...

I wanted to start out with a funny picture from Casey's fridge. One of the seasonal Rangers had this picture for her evening program, and I think it's hilarious. I took the picture on my phone, so in case you can't tell what is going on, that is a t-rex biting through Delicate Arch. Pretty darn funny.

It's been a while, and unfortunately I don't have any pictures to share except for some from when I was able to go to the Baylor v. Rice last Saturday. Why did I go back to Texas? Well, I was given some news last week that my grandfather had passed away. I flew back to Texas to be with my family during the difficult time, and then headed back to Utah the following Sunday. I got this picture from my cousin, Annie.
If you would like to read more about this great man, here is a link:

I wish I could write more about him, but the sadness in my heart is still very deep and new. I am blessed beyond words to have had him for my grandfather for almost 23 years.

On a brighter note, I was able to attend the Baylor v. Rice game last Saturday, which was my first football game as an Alumni! I had so much fun, and am glad we came home with a victory.

Sunday I flew back to Utah to continue my days of teaching the 6th graders. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from teaching them. I missed the majority of the outdoor classes, but I get to make up for it next Wednesday by singing and dancing to a song about the Water Cycle in front of 120 fourth graders. Laugh all you want, but I am going to rock it! I am super excited about this outdoor classroom because we get to take the students to the Moab wetlands here in town. The weather is supposed to be in the mid- to upper 80s next week. I am so excited!
A lot of the past week consisted of helping the resource management guys with invasive plant species removal and eradication throughout the park and around the Visitor's Center. We are trying to remove Russian thistle, and here are a few pictures so you can get an idea on how mean this weed is. See the spikes?
What are my plans for this weekend and my birthday? Well, right now I am in the Visitor's Center blogging on one computer and watching the Baylor v. Kansas St game on my laptop. Sic 'em, Bears! I am thinking about going to Hovenweep National Monument tomorrow, and on Monday I will be going to Grand Junction for a relaxing birthday full of pampering and no stress. Then, on Tuesday, bring on the 4th graders!!

  1. Hey, sorry for the creepy follow from someone you don't know. I was trolling around facebook and saw you and your blog through some friends. I was an SCA intern at Canyonlands last year, and I miss it like crazy. Your pictures make me super jealous!
